Winter break is crucial for school-aged children, providing them with an opportunity to rest and recharge. However, not all kids may experience winter break as a vacation. Some may face challenges such as academic regression, under-stimulation, and lack of structure, making it harder for them to return to school. For some children, winter break may also mean losing access to healthy meals, which are crucial for their development.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

Camp Fire Alaska recognizes these challenges and works to provide support during winter break. Our camp offers a wide range of resources and opportunities to support the children during the break. We provide access to healthy meals and opportunities for them to engage in exciting educational activities that promote social and emotional development. Our goal is to ensure that every child thrives during winter break and all other out-of-school time breaks.

SUPPORTING THE CHILDREN

While winter break can be a challenging time for some families, Camp Fire Alaska helps light the spark by providing the necessary resources for kids to thrive both in and out of school. This year in our Winter Break Camp, kids engaged in constructive activities like arts and crafts, word searches, and coloring books. During this year’s camp, there was no shortage of laughter, smiles, or happy faces. Kids built connections with staff and strengthened friendships with peers, creating lasting memories in the process.

SPRING BREAK CAMP

Although winter break is over,  spring break – another camp that provides the same excellent services – is just around the corner. Spring Break Camp’s enrollment period has begun, so be sure not to miss another exciting opportunity for your child to take part in! Click here  to register.
