Camp Fire Alaska’s Annual Camp K Work Day on Kenai Lake in Cooper Landing was even more exciting this year than ever before, as it became an overnight event for the first time!

From the moment the first family arrived at Camp K on Friday night, you could start to feel the Camp Magic awakening from the summer before. After settling into their cabins, exploring the grounds, playing games, and enjoying a bonfire, families got to sleep with the soothing sounds of Kenai Lake in the background.

After breakfast the next morning, we got to work! Armed with tools and enthusiasm, parents, kids, a few board members and Camp K staff embarked on a mission to clean up the camp. As volunteers dug into their tasks, they connected with one another and shared what brought them to spend the day (or two) helping whip camp into shape!

After a full day of work, families and staff gathered for a well-deserved lunch and time for connection with each other. Through teamwork, hard work, and laughter, volunteers not only cleaned up the camp but also started to feel that spark of Camp Magic that all our campers experience. To those who gave us their time, we so appreciate the time and effort! For those who couldn’t make it, we hope you can join us next year.
