Scholarships

We’re here to help. We understand that sometimes circumstances put a strain on the family budget making financial assistance necessary. Camp Fire Alaska Scholarships are designed to help families through those periods of financial difficulty.

We are deeply grateful to the individual donors, foundations, and corporations who provide funding to our agency so we can provide families with financial assistance and provide all youth with the opportunity to experience Camp Fire programs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to pay the $50 registration fee and the $35 non-refundable deposit?

If you have Child Care Assistance, we require receipt of authorization in order for you to register without paying the registration fee. If you do not have child care assistance, you are required to pay the $50 registration fee. The $35 deposit is applied to the first month’s bill.

I received a scholarship last year. Do I automatically get one this year?

No. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need on a first come, first serve basis. While we try to give support to all families, we ask that you send your application as soon as possible to make sure it is reviewed while funds are available.

I don’t qualify for child care assistance, can I qualify for a scholarship through Camp Fire?

We understand that when individual income exceeds the child care assistance limit, there may be hardship in making ends meet to pay monthly bills plus child care. We also understand unusual, unplanned expenses create a temporary hardship. Please call and speak with a member of our accounting staff for questions about assistance and scholarships.

Summer Camps: What if I want to apply for several weeks of camp?

Please submit only one preferred week per camper on your application. We award one session at a time in order to help as many campers as possible.

Summer Camps: I don’t need my camper’s entire session fee covered. Can I apply for a partial scholarship?

Yes and in fact we encourage that! Please indicate the amount you can personally contribute Many families contribute to their camper’s session fees. This helps us contribute towards as many individual scholarships as possible.
