We spent last Thursday celebrating our Camp Fire Alaska School Age Program with a Lights On Afterschool family event. The event was a smashing success. Families rotated to different stations with a variety of themes where they got to create artwork and answer questions about program, including what they love about Camp Fire.

At one of our program locations, they started the event with outdoor games. A handful of the kids then made lightbulbs to hang up around the event space. One of the staff members, Kurt, even taught everyone how to use a circuit board. They then rotated from station to station where they got colorful and creative, which you can see in the photos below. There was even some glow in the dark fun involved.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and a huge shout out to our program staff! Events like this wouldn’t exist without your dedication and love for Camp Fire and our youth.

Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event that celebrates and advocates for afterschool programs. The Alaska Afterschool Network is committed to raising awareness of the role afterschool, before-school, and summer learning programs play in ensuring our kids graduate from high school and are ready to enter the world and be successful.
