The Salvation Army’s Eagle Crest is a Transitional Housing Program that provides low-cost lodging for up to 76 guests in single, shared, or dormitory rooms. Eagle Crest offers a safe, alcohol and substance-free living environment for its guests. As the facility is designed to promote an independent lifestyle, guests are responsible for providing and preparing their own meals in the shared kitchen.

Brother Francis Shelter provides temporary, emergency shelter for men and women, an evening meal, and use of shower and laundry facilities, case management services, advocacy, job readiness, and referrals for employment, permanent housing, mental health issues, and treatment options for alcohol and substance abuse.

These services include transportation assistance, child and family advocacy, early childhood programs, developmental screenings, enrollment assistance, enrollment in ASD’s free meal program, referrals to community agencies, traditional and non-traditional school supplies

Charlie Elder House provides housing for homeless, teenage boys. At Charlie Elder House, boys ages 12 – 19 learn to live independently, achieve academic success, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to the community. Charlie Elder House provides a therapeutic environment, case management services and counseling services in cooperation with Alaska Children’s Services.

Clare House provides temporary, emergency 24-hour shelter for women with children and expectant mothers. Residents receive daily meals and referrals for child care, substance abuse/mental health, affordable permanent housing, employment and continuing educational opportunities. Case management services are an integral part of the program to help women in their transition from homelessness to independent living.

Homeless Family Services is a collaborative project to provide help for homeless families with children. Homeless Family Services staff helps to secure emergency housing for families when shelters are full and connects families to the resources necessary to secure a place to call home. Homeless Family Services staff goes to the families wherever they may be — a camp site, a motel or a car.
