 To apply contact your local public assistance office to see if you are eligible for diversion payments.

The Alaska Temporary Assistance Program (ATAP) provides cash assistance and work services to low-income families with children to help them with basic needs while they work toward becoming self-sufficient. This program is provided under the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant.

To receive Temporary Assistance, the family must have less than $2,000 in countable resources, or $3,000 if the family includes an individual who is 60 or older. Resources that do not count include the family’s home, household goods and personal property, and most vehicles.

The Rental Assistance Program is designed to help reduce monthly housing costs to an affordable level (30% of the household income). The program is available to families earning 60% or less of area median income and includes several different types of vouchers including: those for families, elderly persons (62+) and persons needing temporary or transitional housing assistance due to medical reasons. Availability is limited; please contact Housing Services at 793-3000 for information about Rental Assistance.

What steps do I need to take to become a renter of a Cook Inlet Housing apartment?

Check our current vacancies listing. Vacancies are updated each Wednesday by 5:00pm. Apply for the specific apartment that you would like to live in by fully completing the application packet and paying the $20 application fee. Incomplete packets will not be processed.

Applicant Checklist – be sure to completely fill out and provide the following:

Completed Rental Application

Copies of government issued photo ID(s), CIB card(s)

Completed Income Verification form

Completed Asset Questionnaire form

Completed Student certification form

Child Support Certification form and statement from CSSD

Divorce decree (if within 3 years)
