Barbara
Dubovich
2011 YWCA Woman of Achievement
The
Alaska Council Board of Director’s wishes to congratulate
the Council’s CEO Barbara Dubovich for being one of ten
women honored as a 2011 YWCA Woman of Achievement. This prestigious
award recognizes women for their extraordinary leadership and
service to the community.
Barb began her career with Camp Fire USA Alaska Council in the
fall of 1981 as a Site Director. The next school year, Barb
was promoted to the position of Program Director and during the
course of over 20 years she helped grow the program to over 30
different program sites, serving over 1200 youth a day.
In 2002, she became the Alaska Council’s CEO. A tenure
of 30 years with the same organization is an accomplishment in
and of itself, but Barb is also an extraordinary leader, demonstrating
tremendous focus and resiliency, empowering all who come to know
her, to thrive in spite of the odds. Her tireless commitment
to ensuring the best possible experiences for our youth, our
families and our staff is an inspiration to all.
Barb has been instrumental in insuring Camp Fire is an organization
focused on providing quality programs for Alaska’s children
and vital support for working families. Along with the dedication
needed to provide vision and management to the organization,
Barb has cared for her own extended family, acquired a Master’s
degree in Education and strongly advocated for youth, families
and the staff who work in the youth development field. She serves
as CEO of one of the largest councils in the Camp Fire national
network and is a recognized strong leader in our nonprofit community.
Congratulations, Barb!
