What’s
a Camp Name?
Some parents wonder who their child is talking about when
they mention “Daisy”, “Wasabi”, “Sunshine” or “Red”.
A long-time Camp tradition dictates that summer camp staff claim an identity
for use while they are at Camp. The camp name can be personally selected
or given to a new staff person. It’s a big mystery for campers to
discover the “real” name of their camp counselor!
Meet
just a few of the folks who work with Camp Fire’s summer
programs...

Camp Name: Tahoe
With Camp Fire USA Alaska Council since: 2008
Three favorite words to describe himself: Skillful, Outgoing, Mantana
Favorite Animal: Labrador Retrievers
Reason why he works for Camp Fire:
"Working for Camp Fire gives me the power to ensure that upcoming generations of kids in our increasingly urban and technological world have opportunities to experience the great outdoors. Alaska provides an easily accessible environment where kids can hone their outdoor skills and gain the confidence and resiliency that come from exposure to the natural environment. I cherish my own rich experiences in the outdoors and the skills that I have learned, and enjoy helping kids develop their own relationship with the world around them.
