2008 Candy Sale
January 26th - February 19th

The Candy Incentive Prizes Tips for Selling

Statistics prove that candy really is good for kids - and communities. Each year, Camp Fire USA youth members across the country sell approximately 2 million boxes of candy, generating thousands of dollars for their councils. These efforts coupled with support from local citizens and businesses help maintain a full range of programs and services that directly enrich the lives of youth throughout the nation and better thousands of communities.

As they plan and implement their local Candy Sales, these youth are giving back to Camp Fire USA, and learning important life skills, including presentation skills, public speaking, math, teamwork, responsibility, confidence and goal-setting.

And, of course, they have a lot of fun and win some great prizes along the way!

Tips For Selling Candy (for youth and parents)

Parents, give encouragement and recognition to your child for a job "well done."

Talk about Camp Fire programs and how they benefit your family.

Help your child sell candy at one of the scheduled store sales. (See Site Directors for info)

Make a list of all the people you know and call them, email them, write them a letter or ask them in person if they would like to support you and Camp Fire by buying some candy.

Write a short note about why you like Camp Fire and why Camp Fire needs support. from the community. (Your site director can help you with that second part). Give this information to each prospective buyer.

If you meet someone who doesn't really want the candy, offer to donate their box of candy to a charity of their choice (ie. Bean's Cafe, the AWAIC shelter, Covenant House, Kids Kitchen, Safe Harbour Inn, etc.). When the participant delivers the candy, they will learn even more about helping out in our community.

If you are able (or know someone who would help) build a simple website and have your very own candy store on the world wide web. No need for a high-tech site, you can take care of payment and delivery in person or via mail.

And remember, send thank you notes when you can. Let them know how much money you raised so they can share in your accomplishment. They might buy even more next year!

Where Does the Money Go?
It may surprise you to learn that child care fees as well as fees associated with other Camp Fire programs do not fully cover program costs. For this reason, it is especially important that the community support our annual candy sale. The money we raise directly supports Council youth programs. The annual candy sale is one of our largest fund raising events of the year. Communities across Alaska, our staff, parents and youth all work together to help sell candy. Over the years, we have maintained the highest quality standards for the candy we sell. The product is first class.

$2.95 of each box sold ($5.00 per box sale price) goes directly to support the program your child attends.

It doesn't get much cooler than a limosine ride to H2 Oasis!
2006 Limosine stop at Ocean View Elementary

2006 Top Sellers enroute to H2 Oasis.

The long, white luxury limosine pulls up in front of your school. Everyone wonders who it is. The driver, who's dressed in a neatly pressed black suit and leather shoes, gets out and enters the school - - - your ride has arrived!

Camp Fire's top candy sellers receive the royal treatment. They have worked hard to sell 150 boxes of candy. They have told a lot of people about Camp Fire and why they like being a Camp Fire kid. They've recruited family and friends to join their quest and have successfully planned and completed their campaign.

The limosine ride is just the beginning of a whole day of royal treatment at H2 Oasis, complete with Pizza for lunch!  If you want to go, mark your calendar for March 28th, 2008 and start selling candy!
